The General Officer Commanding of the 2 Division of Nigerian Army has called on Parents to always monitor the activities of their children.
SWIndependentnews.com.ng reports that Major General Gold Chibuisi in his address as the as the Guest of Honour during the Valendictory and Prize Giving Ceremony of the Command Day Secondary School located inside Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Odogbo Ibadan, advised parents and guidance to always monitor the activities of their children and wards in order no to give them room for negative social vices.
General Gold Chubuisi who was ably represented at the event by the Divisional Training Officer of the Cantonment, Brigadier General Umar Abdukadir Muazu, said parents and guidance should not rest in their oars in continue to support their children, they should try all they can to educate them, because the best gift they can give their children is quality education.
“They should monitor whatever their children are doing, the kind of friends they move out with, and where and where they go so that we will not be having criminals and criminalities in our society. General Chubuisi said.
General Chubuisi also advised the graduands, to see their successful graduation from the school as the beginning of their journey in life, he said, “what was given to you here is the foundation level of your lives.
“The graduands are going to the external world and they need to be very prepare because here they are been taught, but in tertiary institutions they are going to be receiving lectures, so it is a different ball game. Only determination and their hard work will see them through.
“In the Army we have core dedication to education and wellbeing of our officers, we have a lot of institutions of learning starting from command primary school to Army children school to Command Secondary School both boarding and Day, and we also have other institutions of higher learning. Chubuisi said.
In his remarks the acting Commandant of the Command Day School, Major Adedeji Olusegun urged the graduands to go out and conquer the world, stressing that though there are always challenges but noted that they can be surmounted.
He also admonished the fact that security is everybody’s business, stressing that the Parents should monitor the activities of their children to keep them from the peers influence which is capable of having negative social vices on them.
He said further that, since I have assumed office I have tried to bridge the gap between the school and the parents and the home, for instance if we noticed that a student is absent in school, we go extra miles in contacting the parent, we believe that if we are able to bridge the gap between the school and parents I believe the students will not have the gap to exploit their negative social vices.
Representing the State Government at the event, the Senior Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Hon. Kunle Yusuf MON, said, “I’m here on double capacity I was invited here as a book launcher and representatives of the state government, and like I have said from the government perspectives the only thing we can do is to partner with the school because is all about goal of the SGDs it is about giving education to all, so If there is any challenges they are having in terms of renovation of classrooms the or furniture work, the school authority should write officially to the government and we will take the proposal up.
Highlights of the event is the award presentation, launching of the school magazines, and drama and song display by the school choirs and drama group.
Hon. Jimoh Taoreed the Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, I feed very honour and happy to be identified with our children for this is one of well recognize school in Akinyele Local Government and for them to give us this special recognition that we should be one of the dignitaries invited for this year valendictory  service, to my point of view I believe the service will go a long way to encourage the children to be more dedicated to their studies, so that at the end of the day they will become a graduate with distinction.
“My advise to the graduands is to see their graduations from this school as a stepping stone, and this school is a training ground, and I believed that they have been given the necessary orientation which will serve as a better foundation for their future, so I want to advise them not to forget the way they have started and they should continue to think about their future, they should think big, and aspired to be great. Hon. Taoreed. said.
