Notable Nigerians have promised Olubadan designate support to have a successful reign on throne.

9Janewshub.com.ng reports that Some notable Nigerians have been paying homages to the Olubadan designate, Chief Lekan Balogun at his residence in Alarere Area of Ibadan to pray and wish him well on the throne as he’s about to receive staff of office as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Among notable Nigerians that paid homages to Olubadan designate on Tuesday were the Founder and Spiritual Leader of the Shafaudeen In Islam Worldwide, Prof. Sabit Ariyo Oladiti, who also doubles as the Mogaji Aare Alasa of Kuelu Compound Ibadan.

Also on the list is the Vice Chancellor of the First Technical University in Ibadan, Prof. Ayobami Salami and the school management team, as well as the Chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state, Barrister Hakeem Agbaje and his supporters.

Prof. Sabit who was accompanied by his wife, Alhaja Sabit and other top officials of the Shafaudeen group while briefing journalists on the essence of his visit said, “I’m here to congratulates the Olubadan elect, as God as appointed him to be the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland and I’m also here to pray for him that God should grant him sound health and wisdom that is required for the office so he can have a successful reign.

He said, “I’m also here to lend my voice of advice to him that a bush doesn’t make a forest, all the Ibadan Chiefs must be carried along and they must be ready to work with him as to move Ibadan forward in terms of development because they are the closest to the people at the grassroot, especially the Mogaji’s.

“We the Mogaji’s are the closest to the old, the young, the pregnant women, the market women, the youth and so many others like that, so if we have the knowledge that we will be query for any bridge of law or irregularities of any form that occurs in our various jurisdictions then we should be ready to answers questions as to what are we looking before the matter get out of hand, this in that wise will make us to seat tight and work with the king to achieve a better society and Ibadan that we all desired. Prof. Sabit stressed.

Alhaji Sabit a Professor of Engineering and an Islamic scholar maintained that all Ibadan Chiefs must ensure there is development in their areas and in Ibadan at large, he noted that being a Chief is not for fun or for showcasing of affluence, stressing that either religion or traditional Chief it’s meant for selfless service to the society.

“Our Olubadan designate who was once a politician and now that he’s going to be fully crown as Olubadan he should avoid engaging in partisan politics, because he can’t belong to any political party for now, he has for now because an umpire, a father of all that is exactly what he has become, and I pray for his peaceful reign and long life in the throne. Prof. Sabit said.

In his separate interview, Prof. Ayobami Salami the Vice Chancellor of the first Technical University Ibadan said “I’m here today with the management team of the University to come and congratulates our Baba the Olubadan Designate that God has favoured him for making it possible for him in ascending the throne of his fore-father’s and as an institution in Ibadanland we came to pay homage to him and to declare that the University will be there to spore his reign, and we are also trusting God that during his reign the University will go bigger and move forward.

Prof. Salami in his message to the people of Ibadanland said, “My message to Ibadan Indigenes is that we should all come forward to support his reign because if his reign is peaceful, Ibadanland will be peaceful and I believed want all of us wants in Ibadanland is progress and development and why we huke in as a University is that this is the first time in the history of Ibadanland that a PhD holder will be ascending the throne of Olubadan, and I can bodly say that this has never happened before, so its an historical event for us, and our University is historical as well because it’s the only technically University in the entire country and this has never happened before in history of Nigeria.”

“We expect a lot from the new Olubadan like have said that being the first PhD holder to ascend the throne of Olubadan we believe his reign is going to bring a lot of developments, a lot of changes into Ibadan city and developments into the whole of the metropolis. Salami said.

In his words Barrister Akeem Agbaje, said, “I have come to pay homage to our father the Olubadan designate and to congratulate him on his appointment and ascension on the throne because to become Olubadan it take grace of God, because as well all know it take a very long ladder and it takes the grace of God to succeed, so when somebody is blessed as he has been blessed to achieve this, I think it’s the best to come and congratulate him before his installation and felicitate with him on his achievements.

Agbaje maintained further that he had a long relationship with Olubadan designate and his family, he said Baba is a father to me and his younger brother Senator Kola Balogun is a very good Egbon to me, so coming here today is an home coming to me, is a celebration with a family that I’m used to and this has nothing to do with my political ambition.

Recalled that the Olubadan designate has been appointed and approved by the state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland and March 11 has been fixed by the state government as a coronation day for Chief Lakan Balogun to step on the throne of his forefather’s as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland following the demise of late Olubadan Oba Saliu Adetunji Ajeoguguniso 1.

Among other dignitaries at the Palace is the popular Ibadan based Islamic scholar and preacher, Alhaji Taofik Akewugbagold.
