Governor Makinde has called on residents of the state to dispel rumor of escape of high profile inmates at Abolongo Correctional Facility in Oyo town.
SWIndependentnews.com.ng reports that the Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, and the state Commissioner of Police, Ngozi Onadeko fdc, have paid on-the-spot assessment to the Medium Security Custodial Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Services, Abolongo, Oyo Town, Oyo State.
Governor Makinde  arrived in company of some government functionaries including the Chairman, State Advisory Committee, Senator Hosea Agboola, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, commissioners among others.
Governor Makinde who arrived the scene shortly after Alaafin left for his palace was been conducted round the damaged facilities by officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service said effort would be commenced immediately to improve the access road and security of the area.
He called for more calm, urging the people to dispel the rumour of the escape of any high profile inmates of the facility.
He added that about 300 inmates are still at large as the operatives have re-arrested more inmates while some others voluntarily returned.
Alaafin and his entourage were the first to arrived the place at about 11AM.
The highly refered Monarch called for calm among the residents, urging them to wait for the government over the matter.
CP Onadeko shortly arrived at the facility just as the monarch made the way to his car.
It was observed that welders have began work on building another stronger door of the facility to replace the damaged one by the attackers.
It was observed also that nearby bushes around the facility had been levelled with the corpse of the killed inmate already taken away from where it was.
Heavy security presence was also noticed in the vicinity with increased security surveillance by more Amotekun operatives, Vigilante groups and Hunters among others.
CP. Ngozi Onadeko also joined Governor Makinde in conducting round the facility to assess level of the damage done during the attack.
