The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi has laid a foundation of Mosque named after Jesus Christ Son of Mary in Ibadan.

Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, also called on Nigerians to understand one another and unity in order to prevent the country from disintegration.

SWIndependentnews.com.ng reports that the Monarch on Sunday laid the foundation stone of Mosque which was named after Jesus the son of Mary and as well commissioned 35 classrooms of Royal Gold Model Group of Schools.

Alaafin while briefing journalists at the event said that a lot of things had happened in the past that result in ethnicity and tribalism among Nigerians.

The dignitaries at the event included Yeyelua Agbesinga Adinni, Alhaja Medinat Adedibu, Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji represented by Mogaji Akere, Moshood Gbolagade, Chief Imam of Ibadanland,Shelkh AbdulGaniyu Agbotomokekere among others.

Alaafin however urged Nigerians to find way to reconcile among one another and forget about the past in other to move forward.

He said, “I don’t think dissolving the state is the way out but we can restructure the country in such a way that we will have peace and tranquillity and live in harmony.

” Unless we unite to save Nigeria from disintegration, we will never be able to understand ourselves,” the Alaafin said.

The monarch commended the Proprietor of the School, Alhaji Taofeek Akewugbagold, for the step taking in promoting unity among Nigerians by naming the Mosque after Jesus Christ the son of Mary.

In his remark, Akewugbagold called on Muslims not to discriminate among any prophet of Allah,saying all prophets including Jesus Christ belong to Allah.

He said that a whole chapter in the holy Quran was dedicated to Mary the mother of Jesus Christ.

Akewugbagold said that the naming of the Mosque after Jesus Christ was for the whole world be aware that Muslims and Christians don’t need to fight one another.

He further said that it was to extend hands of love to fellow Christians that we are one but worshiping God in different ways.

” There should be no rancour or taking up arms against one another, every individual should be allow to worship in his or her own ways.

” Both Prophet Isa (Jesus Christ) and Muhammed are prophets of Allah.

He further said that he would build another Mosque in Lagos State that would be named after Prophet Muhammed.

Akewugbagold called on the students of the school to have it at the back of their mind not to hate Christians.

In his lecture, Almufty of Ilorin, Shelkh Sulaimon Faruk Onikijipa, called on Muslims to abide by the teachings of the holy Quran and stop looking for miracle where it does not exist.
